This whole-home lakefront renovation and addition in White Lake, Michigan, on Cedar Island Lake transformed a simple waterfront home into a timeless Coastal Craftsman retreat. More than 1,000 square feet was added to the main level, along with an expanded walkout lower level, creating a home that better fits the way the homeowners live and entertain.
The exterior was completely reimagined with James Hardie siding and shake, new windows, a welcoming front porch with timber details and stone piers, and custom Craftsman-inspired gables that give the home a distinctive new character. On the lakeside, a spacious composite deck with dual staircases creates a seamless connection between the home, backyard, and waterfront.
Inside, a dramatic great room addition features a vaulted ceiling, expansive windows overlooking the lake, and a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace. A redesigned laundry and mudroom with custom built-ins, along with the expanded lower level, added everyday function while creating more space for family and guests.
The result is a custom lakefront renovation that blends timeless architecture, improved functionality, and beautiful outdoor living while making the most of its lake setting.
